Welcome to XEL-Model Flying Services, thank you for taking the time and interest to visit our website. The company can offer a wide range of products and services to cater for all aspects of fixed wing model flying, including Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs) and target drones.
The company is owed and operated by Martin Bedding. Martin has had a passion for aircraft and flight, from the tender age of three years. Experimenting with small chuck gliders and rubber powered models at first, eventually moving on to engine powered aircraft by the way of Control Line flying (C/L). In the summer of 1967 Martin made his first venture in to Radio Control flying with a single channel model (rudder only); although today most radio controlled models use exactly the same flight controls as a full size aircraft, including brakes and retractable undercarriages etc.
Over the years Martin has gained a wealth of skills and experience. He has designed his own models, built from plans as well as kits. His real passion though is for aerobatics and Martin has competed in many competitions including the British Nationals on several occasions. He is also a competent aerobatic judge and has judged at the British Nationals for the past two years. Martin also writes articles in the various model magazines and has done for some time. Currently writing for RCM&E.
Experience Cornwall
The company is based in the beautiful county of Cornwall; the flying site is located between Falmouth and Helston on the A394. While the workshop premises are based close to St.Austell. Why not combine your flight training with a family holiday? Cornwall has much to offer as well as excellent flying facilities. If you fancy gliding in the way of slope soaring, all wind directions can be accommodated around the coast.
Training
As the name suggests, the company is primary concerned with the teaching of people to fly radio controlled model aircraft, at this time we only train on fixed wing aircraft, but in due course it is hoped to train on rotary wing (helicopter) as well. We can train from the very basic right up to competition aerobatics at unlimited level. Competition coaching is available as well as judging a class.
